We lose that information.

Yeah.

And so I think if we wanted stronger fraud prevention and to get the improper payments rate down, it would actually make sense to just make the programs easier and have the government do more of the work.

Absolutely.

And we have a very vivid example of this going on right now in the SNAP program.

So that's food stamps.

There was a legal change made by the one big one big beautiful bill act.

I can never say it.

HR one, let's call it, that says that states will have to pay for part of the benefit cost of food stamps if their improper payment rate is above six percent.

And so to get their improper payment rate down, Arizona is kicking people off the program.

Right.

And they have had a rough like a 50% drop in the number of people covered by SNAP.

They're having a hunger crisis because of this.

Because for the state, their incentive is to get the improper payment rate down.

So they're increasing fraud checks.

And they're denying benefits because there's no incentive for them to actually have people on the program.

And even the way the program is structured, states don't have to offer SNAP.

And there's some talk about states just dropping this tent pole of the safety net if they can't get their rate down because they don't have the money to pay for it themselves.
