But people were much more secure.

The child poverty rate collapsed.

During this period of time in which many people were very, very financially unstable, the child poverty rate fell in half.

States liked it better when they didn't have to re-enroll people in programs every six months, when people didn't have to come in for face-to-face interviews.

If you talk to civil servants, they actually liked it better.

But then there was just this dramatic unwinding of everything.

People got kicked off of Medicaid.

Everything went back to the way it was.

And I think is gonna really, really hurt people.

I really liked the idea of Doge.

And I liked how much energy there was around it.

Doge committed this sin of never really focusing on the citizen experience.

It focused on the government itself.

Closing the United States Digital Services.

This was like the group of technologists that came from these great Silicon Valley companies and came to do their civic duty by improving government systems.

And they were really, really effective.

And then they cut people randomly, not like the least efficient government employees, but just randomly from all over the government.
