And people just really, really don't like the prospect of paying more tax.
The tax system's been pretty settled since the GST came in 25 years ago.
Negative gearing and the CGT discount were in before that.
So change always frightens.
I mean, change after such a long time of stability frightens even more.
Good point.
And it's amazing how quickly people forget some of the big issues we were worried about not long ago, like housing prices, and when it might prove a little bit more costly.
So, you know, like you say, Morgan Stanley says it could be the largest house price correction in 40 years.
I mean, isn't that the point?
It is, totally.
If housing affordability was a crisis, and we've called it a crisis repeatedly on the pod for probably three years now, how else do you fix it other than bringing prices down?
Yeah.
You know, you can build a new supply, sure.
The government was supposed to be doing that.
It's not working.
So, I mean, what are they going to do, right?
They're trying to knock it on the head.
