Yeah, if I think back about it now, it's obviously, well, obviously it's a long way away, but also the sort of journey that I've gone is obviously different to most journeys to people becoming All Blacks.

Fell in love with the game back as a nine or ten year old back in 2011 and watching the All Blacks do the haka at the World Cup and winning the World Cup.
Yeah, I think it turned into a dream there and then.
And to now be named in the squad is a huge achievement for myself, my family and my loved ones.
So yeah, it's a surreal feeling and I don't think words can do justice to the emotions that I'm feeling right now.
It was SC 1880 Frankfurt.
I joined there when I was 9 or 10 years old.
Won a couple of German championships through the age grade with them and that's where I met the Kiwi coaches as well.
They then inspired the move to come over here.
Well, like every other German kid, I did grow up playing football up until I was nine years old because my parents, they sent me and my two brothers to an English speaking school, an international school, and two of my best mates there were from England.
so they were obviously familiar with the sport and when I first started playing I actually started playing as a prop because I've always been a bit of a bigger boy for my age and then one day after school we went around to their house and we didn't know what to do and they were like oh should we go play rugby in the backyard and it was basically a game of run it straight and once I figured out that yeah you were able to hit people legally I fell in love with the contact side of the sport and the week after my older brother and I we went to our first training at SC 1880 Frankfurt and
That's where we first met those Kiwi coaches that then brought the idea into my head to come to New Zealand and give it a crack here.
Who were some of those coaches?
The main ones were the brothers, Kieran and Tim Manawatu, that are from here.
And in 2016, so they coached me over there for five years.
And then in 2016, Tim got the RDI job at Tasman Rugby.
And then he got me into touch with Nelson College and sort of planted the seed in my head around maybe giving...
the first 15 at crack there and making the first 15 and that's when I first met Lester Whanganuku who was my first 15 captain at that time so yeah he was my very first mate when I came to New Zealand and yeah we've stayed close ever since and it's pretty cool to be following in his footsteps.
