start to the tournament but um the way he sets us up to play it plays to a lot of the boys strengths in the team but ultimately he kind of gives you the freedom to be fluid roam around and not get too stuck in the system the system is just kind of a platform to help you have a reference of where you need to be but then from there it's you know be confident be brave have a bit of arrogance about yourself and go and enjoy playing and make stuff happen
Yeah, potentially.
I think experience.
Naturally, with time, we've all gotten a bit older, played a lot more games.
And the majority of the guys, I'd say, who, if not all of us from that point, would say we're in a better stage of our career now than we were back then.
You've also got boys who weren't in the team then who were doing amazing at club level and have hit the ground running with the national team too.
I'd say we're in a better state now, more experienced, more confident.
We've also had the experience of World Cup football, which gives us even more confidence as well.
Yeah, there is.
You obviously have a three-minute window where you can have a drink, you're allowed to all kind of huddle, and the coach can give you some sort of little tactical adjustments.
But to be fair, it never really lasts that long, so Poch might be talking to us for a minute or so, just little quick freshen-ups about how we need to play, and then whether you're getting a drink, talking to a physio or something.
you have a lot of spare time to just kind of wait.
Remember in the first game, we finished speaking to Parchew and we've all had our drinks and we're ready to go and the officials are like, no, no, wait, you've got time, you've got an extra minute or so and we're kind of ready to get playing then, but they've got to keep the hydration break going to run the ads.
So I see both sides of it.
I mean,
the conditions were in some of the games incredibly hot for a lot of the players and hydration breaks nice and I think being able to freshen up and know that you've got a rest means that you can give a little bit more on the quality of the games is a little bit more but at the same time if you have a lot of momentum you don't want the game to stop so yeah there's two sides to it
to be fair I would put it in that class I'd say we've got the opportunity to do something incredibly special this summer and we're on home soil we're looking to win a tournament and you can't get there without winning this next game so I fully would say that this is the most important game that any of us have played for the States and we all go into it with that mindset of you know it's do or die we've got to find a way to win even if we don't necessarily perform as well as we have done we just have to find a way to get a result
I like watching it with my dad.
