I don't want to be complacent about it.
I mean, it's not like Europe can sit back and think everything's fine.
I mean, that's what this exercise is about, that maybe things aren't great, that maybe there are rules that clash, maybe there are rules that are a pain in the ass, maybe there are ways of doing things better.
And that's a discussion that's been had very slowly and painfully.
So, you know, take that on where I'm not going to defend...
the EU's approach on this or that it can't be improved.
It definitely can be.
And that's where we are right now.
Definitely.
And that's also because a lot of this legislation takes two or three years to write.
And by the time it comes out, the thing that they were trying to capture has moved on.
And that's the law of unintended consequences, that things are snarling up processes that they were really never designed for.
And you would hope that some of those things can be done better, that you can write something in a way that is a bit more clear and coherent.
But that clearly doesn't happen.
And I think a big issue is that there's just so many layers of things that you've got, so many different things you need to comply with.
And that is painful and that is difficult.

So one of the current idea of this deregulation push is just to peel back some of that or to exempt some types of companies.
I mean, there's a big talk of exempting startups or small companies from some of this or giving more time.
So those things are in the mix.
