I think the only value to this club having the same record as like the last couple to me is illustrating that there is still time to go on a run and win the division.

And there is also still time to continue losing and go into a tailspin and sell off at the deadline.

Like, I just don't think that it is predictive in any way.

It's just an answer to anyone who says today that it's over.

But anyone who says it's over on May 6th probably shouldn't be taken seriously anyway.

There are only three teams in the American League over 500.

The Yankees are 25 and 11.

They're 14 games above.

The Rays are 24 and 12.

They're 12 games above.

And the Athletics are 18 and 17.

They are one game above.

Every other team in the American League is either one game below or worse, including the Blue Jays, who are five games below.

How silver is the lining that the rest of the American League is also underperforming?

I think it helps.

Um, I think it, it says it's more helpful to like predicting the rest of 2026 than last year's record at this time is, um, because it just means that nobody's running away with it, right?

Like the Yankees, uh, are in firm position to win the AL East and let's just give like Seattle, the West and I don't know, Detroit, the central, who cares, but then you've got the rays at 76% playoff odds entering today.
