So when we talk about improving 1% every day and how it all adds up to like 4,000% a year or whatever the logic is there, there's a real number here somewhere.

Like you can add that up and do the math, but doesn't really matter.

The sentiment is that you should always work on your business.

You should always aim to make things better.

But the problem is that if you over-index on the idea of these small improvements, then you stop seeing these pivotal, critical mass movements that you might make as well.

If it's more important for you to get your daily change done, your daily 1%, instead of focusing on the thing that might take many weeks to build, like something that might make a significant impact to the bottom line of the business, then you end up refocusing on the small change.

And all of a sudden, that big thing, that big potential, just gets pushed further and further down the line.

And that's problematic.

Now, if you under-index on these daily improvements or the other side of things, on these regular improvements, you run a different risk.

You end up with mammoth projects, these big, big features that you build and build and try to get perfect so they have the most potential impact.
