Because so many of us are saturated with that input from the moment we wake up to the very moment that we go to sleep.
There's no recovery time built in.
So the brain reaches the end of the day, never having really stopped.
And then we expect sleep to do all of the work for us.
But sleep can't actually carry that entire load on its own.
It's too much.
