Then there was one officer standing directly behind Detective Thompson and he has yelled gun and ran and behind him was Senior Constable Devart Hotart who had also turned to run but Freeman fired a second time hitting him.

So Freeman is actually captured on body-worn camera at this point, repeatedly saying, I had no choice, I had no choice.

Then we hear a short time later, Freeman actually comes out of the bus with the shotgun that he had used to shoot the two police officers.

He goes over to Senior Constable Devart Hotart and removes his gun from his holster and a spare magazine, and then he continues to shoot at the officers that are taking cover.

The court then heard that a police officer actually yelled out, can you hear us, Tomo?

Now, that was toward Detective Thompson.

At that point, Freeman was heard yelling, now a language warning here.

Die in hell, you fucking scum.

Die in fucking hell.

As he stood over the body of Detective Thompson.

He has then used Senior Constable Devart Hothart's gun to shoot Detective Thompson a second time.

Yeah, that's right.

He really made a point when he was reading out the opening that he wasn't going to repeat what Freeman said when he stood over the bodies of those two police officers out of respect, because we know that Detective Thompson's sisters and partner were in court and the parents of Senior Constable Devart Hotart were on a link from Belgium watching on

So I guess it's fair to say that that is some indication of what was said at that time.

Freeman's actions after the initial shooting of the two police officers was certainly new details that we hadn't heard before.

We knew that he had taken one of the officer's guns in those early reports from police when it was still quite unfolding on that day.

We were getting information that he was armed and had potentially taken a police officer's gun earlier.

But we certainly didn't know that he had used that gun to shoot Detective Thompson a second time.

We also didn't know about a fourth officer being injured in the shooting while taking cover.

So they were seeking cover behind a white van and they received cuts to their face, their ear and their neck from shattered pieces of glass.
