like me with the kids and then you know possibly parents and things like that it's still important to make sure that you have a voice and that you have your own money that you control in retirement accounts and yes you can

contribute to retirement accounts as a stay-at-home mom there are accounts that you can have even if you don't have a 401k but it's important to know that your labor your emotional labor physical labor the impact on your career and earning potential over the life over your lifetime

including like how much you would get in social security benefits all of that is impacted by your choices and so it's important to take that into account when you are making these types of decisions of whether to stay home or how to kind of make up that difference because

I see people and it's probably, well, I know it's not because some people still think like this, but I do think this is a way of thinking that is slowly dying as I hope it should.

But that, you know, just because a woman stays at home, like they're not bringing, you know, quote unquote, bringing anything to the table because they're not earning an income, but you are.

And so you do have value and your resources with your time and your energy that contribute to the household is value to the family and you should be compensated for that.

And so you should have your own retirement accounts.
