In the womb, I am there.
And at some point, the publisher was really lovely and my book editor was saying, we can just do an image.
I said, when that image didn't exist, don't.
Don't do this because I'll always know it's fake.
I don't do that.
I carry the scars.
And it's not that the scars, with all the success that I've had, I'm grateful for that, with all the accolades.
No one sees the scars.
Everybody has met me when I became famous.
No one met me when I was nothing.
But the scars, they still stay.
And they hurt.
They still hurt.
So that picture of my mother and me,
And when they put that book together, that's my favorite picture.
My mother looking embarrassed, all dressed up in a wedding with me in the womb.
And that's when I was completely convinced about one thing.
That's my original home.
For all of us, the womb of our mother is our real home.
Now when people call each other immigrants, migrants, people, the day you leave your mother's womb, we're all migrants.
