It's just the thing, the reason I speak and the reason why I'm unafraid, and we were discussing this before you joined the table, is that I am here to represent society.
first, women in their graves, the unloved, the unwanted, those that never got appreciated, who never were told that this korma that you made was beautiful, or that, like your aunt, that you know, every time you came for vegetables, it gave something extra to my table, or that there was this kindness in you asking me how I am, because, you know, my husband didn't have time to ask me how I am.
We don't say these things to the women.
We also don't say it to men, but I think that women particularly, because we make it look like effortless, people think it's valueless.
Yeah, they think it's valueless.
Because we don't, you know, I don't sit here and say...
You know, this I did for you because now you're going to have this extra dish.
And, you know, I've taken half an hour out of my time.
Instead of washing my hair, I'm sitting here talking to you.
Women don't do this.
Especially women of that generation don't do it.
So in that silent sacrifices that so many women have made, there is this hollowness in the storytelling.
Every day, I live one day less, all of us do.
I try to tell the story of myself, but I also try to tell the stories of all women.
Because in that space where they never said anything, my voice echoes.
Every time I come back to this, because I know the next dawn is not guaranteed to me.
And I want to use, I want to be useful.
When that time comes and I'm submerged in the ocean, I want to look back and see greenery and moisture and that there is no barriers, that I managed to break it, even it meant with my body.
