With eyes barely cracked, I pushed my way into the bathroom.
The shower burst into life as I turned the squeaky knobs.
Once the temp got to a reasonable degree of near scalding, I jumped in.
Once I was thoroughly clean, I turned the water off and got myself dry.
The clothes I had worn from the previous day still smelled reasonably fresh, so I threw them on.
No point wasting another set of clothes when there was no one to impress.
I was constantly on a timer at work, no time to stop and flirt with a potential mate.
Feeling the weight of my keys in my pocket, I headed to the front door, snatching a Pop-Tart from the box.
It wasn't until I stepped out into the hallway that I realized I had forgotten a very important thing.
I wasn't wearing any shoes.
With a sigh, I turned around and closed the door.
Screw it.
I could just stay home.
That's when my eyes fell on the stack of bills on the counter.
Another sigh and I was off to find my shoes.
Bills had to get paid some way.
And since there was nobody to share them with, that responsibility fell to me.
I slid my shoes on and admired myself in the mirror.
All black attire from head to toe.
