So they're community projects where men, mainly older men, come together and they share interests and skills and have a chat.

And the idea originated in Australia, it's now spread.

And there's almost 500 here in Ireland under the umbrella of the Irish Men's Shed Association.

There's also a separate women's shed network as well.

But um each men's shed is different.

Some meet once a week, some meet five days a week, and they do offer different activities.

Um, but what they have in common is that they're really important in tackling isolation and loneliness in the communities in which they're based.

I did.

And on Friday morning I interrupted a card game and Dundog's Med Shed, which is one of those branches that operates five days a week.
