I'm Barb R., an addict, and my clean date is October 4th, 1995, and my home group is Open Mind.

Yeah.

I think I think this is very fitting for me.

And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one because it's a gist for today, you know.

And, you know, I think there was a philosopher that said that addicts are selfish by nature, you know, that humans are selfish by nature.

And I was like, oh, it's not just addicts, you know.

And this self-obsession, I've always been self-obsessed.

Even in recovery, I can be, I can jump into that.

You know, sometimes people tell me, don't make this about you, Barb.

My son was going to Quodge, him and his wife.

And they got a contracting job.

The first thought when he came over and told me my first thought was, what about me?

And I realized that I shared it at a meeting.

And then my second thought was how exciting, how cool for him, you know, but that that's just a little snapshot of that.

of how my thinking, you know, goes.

My first sponsor told me, literally, you're a selfish, self-centered bitch.

And I was like, what?

You know, but it made me stop and look that I was selfish.

So I was so in denial that I didn't even see it, you know.

It permeates my whole life.
