We during the wintertime I'd raise money, uh campership funds and so forth.

And um we take these kids to uh inner city Los Angeles, uh areas called Islos and uh Watts.

So uh a Hispanic and and uh and uh African American.

And it was neat.

They come up to the uh to the mountains first time.

And most of them, if they were seeing each other back home.

One of us in deep trouble 'cause they were in the wrong neighborhood.

But here

You're in camp, you're in our turf, and you know what?

Everyone's nice to each other.

There's three meals a day.

There's the pool and arts and crafts and for a week they take

A deep breath and relax and get exposed.

That was wonderful.

But in the third year is there, I met this lady, um, and I went off to law school and she went back to uh uh back home.

That year, if I was telling the whole story, I'd say, Well, I wrote every other day, and she would say

Yeah, and then I'd say, Yeah, but some of yours were cards.

Mine were all letters.

And I asked her to marry me over the phone at the end of the first year of law school.

And she didn't answer because here's what I'd asked.
