It's from it's from bots.

And so that that really completely uh alters um one's ability to sort of understand uh to what extent are people really how do people really feel about this.

uh this this m this message.

So the sentiment analysis that one would do can can be really significantly corrupted.

So I I think we we always assumed that um that the internet, you know, way back in the good old days of the WWW and you know Tim Berners-Lee and so on, that um that this would be a place where actual human beings could engage with content, we could measure that and so we could see where the real traffic was, what was really catching people's interest.

But that is

really been corrupted by strategic uh bot activity.

Yeah, so I guess first of all w we kinda did pay for the internet in a way.

You know, the um when um when the World Wide Web started becoming, you know, um a very useful uh structure, you know, in the late nineties, people tended to go out they went out and they bought computers and they bought internet subscriptions and they bought modems and you know, the w there was actual money that households paid to get onto the internet.

Now, of course that didn't pay for

for the for the um uh for the g for the you know excellent search engine that Google created at that time and so on.

So, you know, advertising became the mechanism through which um content would be paid for.

Um so I d there there is a b you know that is a that is a good business model.

The problem the problem online is that one is becoming less sure about

which internet users are real and which are not.

And we really get we really do have to get at the at the at the crux of that issue.

And that's all about the provenance of users.

Are people um are people using their own identities?

Are they using fake identities?

Um are in fact, you know, accounts just completely um automatic.
