And of course if you're if you're paying for something
And you're paying um you're paying a marketing company for for click through or uh or uh you know exposure to a certain market and um one can automate that and you know essentially fraudulently produced traffic, then that's not helping anybody because you know the the the person who's selling into that market is is getting is not getting access to the market that they want and not getting their message in front of buyers.
Um but equally, you know, the the the whole
Understanding of what um of how the world responds and what is important, what's not important, what's attractive, what's not attractive.
That's all corrupted and twisted.
Um well I suppose if we look at um if we look at for example, just take the social media platforms, um there's no real name identity required on the internet, right?
So you don't have to actually identify yourself as a certain person.
Um and um you know that was a principle that um uh that people bought into because there there are really legitimate reasons why you want to be anonymous online.
You know, if you're if you're from a from a um uh a draconian regime or you're um you you're in danger in some way or you're exploring something that's sensitive.
Um but the problem, you know, if you look at some of the some of the social media platforms that we don't have to mention, um every everybody who's listening to this show are aware that you know the the number of those accounts that have long strings of numbers
And you know, photograph of a dog or something, that these are growing massively online.
So uh we don't tend to find this corruption of of identity on LinkedIn because of course the incentive on LinkedIn is for you to represent yourself because you are the thing that you want to um you're incentivized to identify yourself and be accurate about your identity because that's that's the value.
People will reach out and say, Oh, there's Tom.
Tom's a fantastic person in the area of X and I'm going to
Reach out to Tom.
Um on things like Instagram and X and so on, that's not the case.
People don't have to reveal their their true identities, and there's no real incentive for them to do so.
And so the incentives around uh identity need to be changed.
And so where um we do want people to use a real identity, there should be an incentive for them to do that.
Um we saw that very recently with the Grok scandal before Christmas.
