Look, it's interesting.
I think I made a very smart decision for myself.
So when I first became pregnant with my daughter, Ava, who's now, she's nearly 18 now.
When I became pregnant with her, I decided that I wanted to stop writing fiction and I wanted to write a book of advice for kids in high school.
And that's because increasingly, despite the fact that I had written fiction, I kept being asked to go into schools and talk to high school kids about life lessons and friendships and stuff.
And when I was putting this book together, and it's called Find Your Tribe and Nine Other Things I Wish I'd Known in High School, and I'm not plugging it because I don't even know you can get it.
It's very old.
I don't think you can buy it anymore.
But I reflected on the fact that when I was in high school,
I was not one of the shiny people.
I wasn't ever a captain or a leader or a prefect.
I wasn't one of the sporty people, one of the sporty superstars.
I did pretty well academically, but I was not one of the kids getting all of the academic awards.
And I certainly, as shocking as this is, was not the cool group, right?
In fact, I like to say to this joke probably only goes to people my age, but I looked not dissimilar to Harold Bishop with a perm, right?
I was John Bon Jovi in high school.
I had like the corkscrew perm and huge glasses and no wash down.
So I wasn't in the cool group when I was at school.
And I say to teenagers and parents all the time, I wasn't one of the shiny people when I was at school.
