Um it means that you had to take a pause and take a rest.
Yeah, I think you know, the way the reason that um I kind of do the DEI work, which is diversity, equity, inclusion, and I do DEI B, so I add a B for belonging.
Um and the reason I do that work is because the beginnings of DEI um were are important and it's important to recognize that it came um originally surrounding race.
And for a long time, people really equated the concept of diversity with just race.
Um, and it was really frustrating.
And as that DEI movement was picking up.
um some strength, it was really important to remember that, you know, we have um a lot of other marginalized groups that are also, you know, historically marginalized groups that are also part of that diversity picture.
And that includes the disability community.
and so and all of us, those of us with visible uh with apparent and non apparent disabilities.
Right.
Um, and so you know, it's just it's it's an important place for me.
And the place that I think I found also the most challenges in my adulthood was in the realm of employment.
Um, and this is a way and a topic and a way for me to talk about these things in terms of the workplace and um um being a disabled employee.
lots of and some people add a J for justice.
Um, and so it depends on what your focus is.
Um, but belonging is, you know, something that I've been in search for still to this day, my entire life.
Um, and I'm always looking for spaces where I feel like I belong in my like fully authentic self.
My journey.
Um, and so that's the letter that I choose.
