So history of sugar beets, it's a long story.
But it was from some plant around the Mediterranean Sea over in Europe.
And then actually Napoleon, like France, Napoleon, he had a sweet tooth and they had problems with local supply in France of sugar cane coming in.
And so they had issues with supply chains, which we're trying to avoid here now by growing our own sugar in the U.S.,
And so that's kind of where the sugar beet kind of got its thing and that eventually worked its way into Germany, I think, or it went there before or after and then eventually over here and up north to where I farm.
