And he said, well, she's not going to come back.
And they're like, okay, well, you need to basically distance yourself from her now because she's trouble.
And so, yeah, no one had a conversation with me.
That was it.
I basically said to him, I'm not going back.
And that was it.
Not a single person.
And this was the community that was supposed to be my family that I had known my entire life.
Not a single person reached out to me.
So I can't speak obviously on like particular circumstances.
I know that there's been a lot of legal stuff going on.
I think for me I just wanted to get on with my life.
There was a podcast series that came out a few months ago which prompted a parliamentary inquiry into cults and coercive control and I was encouraged to do a submission for that.
Which I was a little nervous about doing.
I think even just prior to my book coming out, I think I'd really just wanted to get on with my life and I didn't want to kind of, you know, unearth all that again and have to talk about it.
And then I just, I think I realised I had come so far and I'd healed so much and I felt like if I could do anything, it would be to protect any other little kids that are still stuck in it.
And I wish someone had spoken up and protected me.
And so, yeah, I did my submission.
It's on the website, the Victorian government website.
And then they've just done a bunch of submissions basically saying and recommendations saying that this is what needs to change with these closed-off religious groups because it's not just Geelong Revival Centre.
