These were huge moments followed with cultural humor that I believe completely takes away from the
insanity of the situation sometimes depends on the situation the gravity of some of the situations and it made me think about how since 2020 you know we have kind of labeled ourselves the unserious generation and it was kind of a fun little moniker we gave to ourselves um almost commending ourselves for our ability to live through such unserious times
Um, I feel like since 2020, there's been memes about like World War Three happening anytime there's some sort of like geopolitical shakeup in the slightest, like, it's people being like getting in my nuclear, but okay, that's ironic me saying that when it looks like I'm actually new in a nuclear bunker, but it's made me think about.
how we've gotten to like collectively such a numb place such an apathetic place in society um and i was really trying to trace it back to like what about like is this a it does this happen with every generation has this happened in the past because in 2020 we have had such a high density of events that have like desensitized us of course covid of course um
Like, the list goes on and on from there.
But are we living through, like, objectively the craziest times?
Well, yes and no.
Of course, in, like, the 1960s, they had assassinations of the president, MLK, Malcolm X. They had the Cold War.
They had civil rights unrest.
And then, of course, World War II, the Holocaust, nuclear bombs being invented, if you've seen Oppenheimer.
And so I'm sure like living through decades like that, you probably would have thought like, doesn't get much worse than this.
We're at the end of society, which I think is how a lot of people feel now.
So for the sake of this argument, let me just make a broad assumption that we can kind of assume from the patterns that every century, there'll be like two-ish decades that are duds.
Last century, 1920s, 1960s, this century, 2020s,
2060s, what's in store for us?
I'm not making predictions that far because I can't even fathom what the world will look like past 2030.
But in the 1960s, for example, and then after the Vietnam War, there was the whole counterculture movement, which was a direct rejection of, it was very anti-military, anti-capitalist.
