You look at a guy doing well and you go, Oh, well, yeah, but all these great models, like fancy mathematical things, say that he's only going to be okay going forward.
Um, I'm less willing to believe that when guys are doing weird things.
And I think Jose Rodriguez easily crosses that bar.
You know, he has, I mean, we gave his slider an even better grade than his uh his changeup.
Looks looks like we might have been wrong on that.
Um, but it it's good too.
Um basically my point is that he's he's succeeding.
Yeah, with I can t I can both point to why he's succeeding and point to why a pitching model or a a projection system might not do a great job of understanding it, which makes me a lot more willing to kinda
Bring him up, roll the dice, bet on him.
But also
To trust the first major league results we get.
If he is not missing bats in his first few appearances, I'm gonna be like, uh oh.
And if he is, I'm gonna be very willing to believe it.
I mean, like you said, probably not provable, but that's how I'm that's how I see it too.
I I think it relates to the whole like relievers are good until they aren't.
You know, no reliever's good forever.
Uh with very few exceptions.
Um
But yeah, like relievers sometimes just decline overnight.
And of course, a guy who basically succeeds because batters are struggling with his weirdness.
