One of the things that those two names conjure is very different kinds of art.
And I know that right from the start, one of the key things it seems to me about your work is that you surrounded yourself with artists that were not just photographers.
You had very productive dialogues with photographers, but you also have right from the start had around you people that were making works in all disciplines.
Do you think that's important in terms of the
way that your own work has developed.
Yeah.
And that absolutely comes through as a viewer.
You can see that.
That's present in the work.
I wanted to ask you at this point about David Hammonds and your work with him.
Interestingly, I know that you sort of were resistant or just declined, or I don't know, but you didn't show them in sort of art spaces your photographs of David Hammonds' performances and projects and so on.
Until relatively recently, there there was something at Freeze, I remember, in twenty nineteen.
I think it was, where you showed images of it.
So do you regard that kind of work as completely separate from your wider photographic project in the sense that it was a kind of documentary?
But you can see the very artistic framing of those projects.
You know, you can see that these are not just documentary photographs, you know.
Right, but he didn't direct you, right?
You know, he didn't say, Can you stand there and take a photograph from this angle, you know?
And just to be clear to our listeners, Linda Good Bryant was the founder of Just Above Midtown, this absolutely vital pivotal gallery in New York in the seventies and so on.
Right.
