Yeah.
One of the things that I've noted as I've been thinking about your work a lot is that in different ways and through the forms that you engage with, it seems to me that there's a playing with convention that dominates the work.
And the most obvious example is the fact that you've had ballet in the recent piece, Doom.
But I was also thinking about your sculpture and thinking about your paintings.
And in each kind of form, you're pushing at convention.
For instance, the dance macabre is a form that you're referencing in the work.
And you're bringing it into a kind of contemporary framework.
And likewise with ballet, you're presenting authentic ballet movements.
You're working with the muscle memory of the dancers.
But it's like teasing out what can the muscle memory do that isn't the convention, if you know what I mean.
And it seems to me that's happening through the work in sculpture too and so on.
They're sort of subjected to forces that are beyond their control.
The idea of working with storytelling brings up the idea of narrative and the way that narrative plays across your pieces, because you can have this very fragmentary experience of your work.
But if you stand still, actually, you can see a narrative unfolding to a degree.
So, again, going back to that meaning, you can allow us to interpret narratives or storylines completely according to our own subjective experience.
Right.
