But mostly, I suppose, rereading as part of editing or rereading to figure out where you left off.

Those are different feelings.

But I think...

I think sometimes it's like that was an important bit or that was a good bit.

And I sometimes, depending on whether it's for a book or for like a shorter story, it can feel like it's got like a size, like it's going to take up like this one bit, even if it's not very much writing.

is the thing like it's going to take up a lot of space and so it almost doesn't matter exactly what the words say you just kind of know that that thing there is like important and you'll have to that will become something that you work in but um i think rereading and being surprised is lovely it's a really nice feeling um and rereading and realizing there's more work to do is just that's just the work you know

I do a bit.

Have the reader there in my mind a little bit.

At what point?

I think in a sort of childish way, trying to impress somebody is part of it.

Like, I think it's like making people laugh.

It's a, you know, you know what I mean?

It's not the whole point of the book, definitely, or the work.

But there's a little bit of me that's like, oh, they'll laugh at that at least.

Yeah.

See, and I sort of, maybe it's a crutch, but... You look quite pleased.

Honestly, that means a lot to me.

That means a huge amount to me.

Good.
