I mean, it's extraordinary to hear you talk about it within the world of professional football that we talk about and analyse to the most minute detail now that those sorts of things happen to you are remarkable.
One of the things you touched on as well when you were talking about being at Villa when David O'Leary turned up was playing for England.
and missing that penalty in Euro 2004, of course.
You were part of the team and a squad that was considered the golden generation.
We were looking at this still of the starting lineup for the Portugal game, the quarterfinal this morning, and marveling at why the team weren't ever successful enough to win a thing.
When we look at the club, when we look at that, it was an amazing setup, wasn't it?
You came on, didn't you?
And then, of course, I'm reading in your book what I was fascinated by was we're talking through penalties.
And it wasn't until you played in Soccer Aid you had an England experience where we won the penalty shootout.
But that penalty you took, which was the seventh penalty, of course,
A couple of things about this.
First of all, the goalkeeper took his gloves off.
And you saying that, because you played with him at Leicester.
Later on, yeah.
Dorais, I know they're talking about extending one of the stands and the manager and the sense of expectation must be sort of fantastic to be a part of.
I mean, I think it's six or seven Portuguese starters in the first 11 at the minute.
Is there a sense to some of the more homegrown talent that they're not going to get a looking because, you know, that's not the way the manager's going?
Yeah.
I mean, the other player that we want to talk about, of course, is Vincent Kompany, who you played with.
He came in at City when you were there.
