They felt guilty about what they'd done, and they will carry that to their graves.
So this isn't just a case of business people getting away with something with a slap on the wrist.
These are people who do care, and their failures, they know what the true price of those failures are.
These businesses, they got bans.
There were different circumstances for each of them.
Now, those bans are relatively light.
These are not criminal convictions at all, because quite remarkably, the police haven't made a decision on whether to charge anybody criminally.
for selling alcohol to an underage person, despite them having admissions from the businesses involved that the sales took place.
And that I think is a question because if you don't take criminal charges against people when somebody, a young person dies, you kind of wonder whenever we might do that.
No, no.
After the licensing hearing, I got into the lift with the police representatives that were there and asked them.
And it was quite uncomfortable.
And they said, well, we don't talk about ongoing investigations.
So they haven't closed the door on it.
but it doesn't feel like they're rushing towards it.
And I think, you know, my conversation with Silas's parents, they felt that the approach taken all the way through this was that technical offenses had occurred.
And they push hard to get the police to act on this.
Now, I'm sure the police would say that they took their cases, their civil cases, to the licensing authority, and they would have done that anyway.
But the Sims felt they had to work quite hard to get that to actually happen.
There's two answers to that.
