Gareth, I had the pleasure of speaking to Jack Moylan on the pitch on Saturday in Mercia and he spoke very fondly about his time in the League of Ireland and maybe the need to get behind the league for people who maybe follow the national team and don't follow the League of Ireland.
And you'll see more players like this coming through.
Is this maybe a change that the national team might start to look at the league?
I know it's only friendlies, but they might start to look at the league to call players more often.
appearances or has been called up to squads or has gone on to bigger and better things it's a credit to Rovers and Bradley Yeah Hamer told us that he thinks the next natural progression for Victor is to go to the under 21s considering he hasn't played there yet there is one worry around obviously these games so the Cats are game is Thursday the 28th of May we do have a Dublin derby on Monday which is the 25th
So essentially, if Adam Brennan, Ed McGinty, Dawson Avoy are involved in that game on Monday, they won't play the game on Thursday against Qatar.
They won't be able to join up until matchday minus one.
And there won't be enough probably training session, we'd imagine, to get in the team for Qatar.
The Friday 29th, the day after the Qatar games.
Bohemians play Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers play St.
Pat's Cork City are also an action against Finn Harps that night as well we asked Hamer in Murcia you know does this mean that the games are going to be called off and he basically said it's up to the league to sort that out themselves he's called up the players he spoke to the managers who are happy that their players have been called up
But it's up to them to sort this out.
Are we looking at a scenario here, Vinny, maybe where the derby could be called off on Monday and then games called off on the Friday again?
I think the threshold is three usually that you can definitely get a game called off for.
Obviously, we're looking at one for Bohemians and two for Shamrock Rovers.
It's obviously going to create a lot of fixture congestion down the line if both these games do get called off as well.
Is it something you're in favour for to get players fast-tracked up to the senior team?
is that a good thing I don't know I don't know so it's let's wait and see how all of this plays out over the next number of weeks yeah obviously that Dublin derby on Monday night so just a couple of days away we'll have to see what Anna Reynolds and Stephen Bradley's side Anna Reynolds did call for common sense to prevail if players have to be called up around the team so we'll see what that means but if you focus on the games in the League of Ireland obviously our commentary game this Friday night is the loud derby Drogheda United at home to Dundalk
If you look at last week, Vinny, we were lucky enough to be in Dundalk and Oriole Park on Friday night, your first visit back, a home win for Dundalk against the champions.
I think it's fair to say maybe you're the lucky charm.
