And there's not enough or sufficient policy from all levels of government to intervene.

So there can be a feeling of despair, but also there's hope out there.

Like the women's organisations, the feminist-led organisations, particularly in the intervention, crisis response, healing and recovery, are doing phenomenal work on the smell of an oily rag.

I must say the federal government has put such a significant investment, the biggest investment in ending gender violence and family violence.

So there is hope coming.

It's just not moving as fast as I would.

I have so many mixed emotions.

I think about this constantly.

Yeah, it's a sad state of affairs.

And if it was a physical condition, if it was a cancer, if it was a medical diagnosis, we'd be moving so much quicker.

So much quicker than what we are.

But I also don't want to devalue the work of the amazing people out there.

The practitioners, the researchers, the leaders, the CEOs, the activists, the advocates.

They're doing a phenomenal amount of work.

This is our window.

Yeah, I feel embarrassed and the shame as a man that we are responsible for this.

There's no getting around that.

And the bit that is embarrassing is someone at some point in time is going to listen or hear about this podcast and shitpost a comment that says, what about women's violence against men?

Not all men.

You know, there's still that school of thinking.
