For instance, I am going to attend a few pop-up Gaeltacht events in both Cavan and Dublin.

And these are events specifically for people who want to practice Irish in a social setting, typically in a bar.

And I'll go to a couple of more general language learning events too, where I'll likely bump into people who also speak Irish.

And I'll meet up with Irish speakers directly for coffee and so on as well.

So I'm going to be using it in more social ways over the next few weeks.

And all of this can be a part of my plan to genuinely get my Irish to join the ranks of true fluency along with several of my other languages.

And, you know, you can reach a point where adding knowledge is no longer the thing that absolutely matters the most.

As I found with this language course, you may already know far more than you think.

But richer conversations need more sustained exposure and deeper usage.

As a friend of mine once said, languages can't be learned, they can only be lived.

And for yourself, if you're doing reasonably well in language lessons, but you still can't have the conversations that you want in more natural situations,

don't take that as any evidence that you failed your next step may simply have been to do something different and you might not need to learn anything specific about like diving into book courses and such what you may actually need is more time with the language as it's actually used and more opportunities to stay in conversations longer before you can reach that stage where you're more confidently ready to do more complex things

So just notice what your current ability lets you do and build from there.

So yeah, that's what I wanted to talk about.

Just reflecting on this language immersion week, which I had lots of fun at.

And it's great to give me the momentum and the confidence that I need to push my own Irish up.

And I hope that gives you inspiration for your own particular language challenges.
