I had ten entire days back in Ireland before this immersion experience, but I grossly overestimated how much I'd have spare after I took into account the house being full of family, an army of nephews to hang out with, lots of work to catch up on, and also work to clear ahead of time so I'd be fully present this week.

jet lag to get over on top of everything else and other things, you know, that sucked up my time.

That I haven't even had a single moment to sit down and open a book or open up my language study apps and catch up on vocabulary, that kind of thing.

And I only have the next day before things really kick off as I'm just settling into the village.

So I'm gonna cram some books, listening to some Irish podcasts as I'm driving up.

And knowing that I'm gonna be that worst person in the room gives me truly good motivation to be very focused over the next 24 hours.

And that's what matters.

So we'll see how much that helps.

Maybe in your own case, you've been going easy on yourself, and I I understand why.

Speaking another language can be very, very intimidating, but I really encourage you to push yourself outside of your comfort.

Comfort zone, since that's where the magic happens.

You almost certainly know what your version of me signing up to the hardest class is.

Maybe you have a conversation exchange you're not booking yet, or there's a meetup in your city that you've been meaning to go to and haven't quite made it yet.

Or maybe you have a your own class that you are currently cruising through and could potentially push yourself to the higher level.

You don't have to start it tomorrow, but do tell yourself out loud what is right outside your comfort zone because once you've named the problem, it gets harder to pretend it isn't there.
