And has a different personality as well that maybe Ireland and Leinster need, you know, because a lot of our players come from the same type of background.

yeah and he's different he's different and uh you know uh certainly i know in the irish camp they appreciate that a lot and and um yeah he'll be missed but it's out of his hands i don't think he had a real option to stay and looking again careful what you read social media but looking at the lenster instagram post and looking at the comments from fans like he he's very much appreciated by the fan base as well and a lot of people are very disappointed

Yeah, well, so there's a couple of things at play here.

So the central contracting model has changed in that it used to be 100%.

From the RFU, so obviously Leinster with so many central contracts, that was free players to a certain extent.

Obviously, there's limitations around when they can play, but that was a huge boost to Leinster because then their own revenue went into support or trying to keep the next crop or the future internationals or the foreign players.

then they looked at that and then decided 30 will be paid by the province so obviously that's a big chunk for for leinster to pay because they had so many and next year or or quite soon it goes to 40 is my understanding um so that's you know um that's another 10 on top of um you know your your cain and doris's and your uh your james ryan's etc um and what lengths of 12 or 13 of them i think or double figures anyway

So that's obviously quite a bit of money that Leinster now have to fund themselves.

And there was then, outside the central contracts, my understanding was there was ponies, players of national interest, and they would get a provincial contract negotiated plus a top-up from Leinster.

the IRFU and it's kind of a it's a bridge to a central contract in theory I think maybe I'm wrong on this but I thought there was I thought Simon Zeebo coming back from Rassing to Munster there was some kind of additional top up from the IRFU to get that deal done I think it was announced at the time that the IRFU had facilitated it has been a kind of a way to be a bit creative and to help get these deals done

I don't know who's to blame here.

I think James is the kind of fellow who will tell it as it is when he's leaving, which should be interesting, his take on it.

But something's happened that has gone pear-shaped where he didn't feel respected or he felt let down from what I understand.
