What does it mean to be in a forest?
You're in a certain wavelength of green light.
You are surrounded by oxygenating plants, plants that are making oxygen and taking in your carbon dioxide.
You are moving, right, like exercise.
So what they found is that being in a forest environment causes your nervous system to regulate, puts you into a parasympathetic or rest and digest state.
It reduces inflammation.
It reduces blood pressure.
I mean, it has all these health benefits that are measurable,
But like, it's basics.
Do you know what you just described is something that I don't think is quantifiable.
And that is the sense of awe and wonder and closeness to God or whatever you want to call it.
So we can measure nervous system.
We can measure the terpenes in the air.
We can measure the microbiome and benefits.
But how do you measure awe?
How do you measure the feeling of being in a state of complete and utter awe at the creation that we have access to?
Right.
And when you're in a city.
You don't really get that sense, right?
But when you're in a redwood forest or you're on a beach or wherever it is that gives you that sense of a mountaintop.
