So we import a lot of vanilla from Madagascar.
We spend a certain amount of money on that.
Now, the people of Madagascar, there aren't very many of them and they're not that wealthy.
And so they don't buy very much from the United States.
So we have a trade deficit with the country of Madagascar.
Does anybody think that we're stealing from them?
We're benefiting from the fact that they have vanilla that we want.
And so we buy more from them.
But Trump imposed a tariff on Madagascar because he thought that they were stealing from us.
Okay, so you can see how self-defeating this all is and how it's all based on this misunderstanding about how trade works and why we benefit from it.
I legitimately don't know at this point.
I mean, somebody's got to have told him that this is how it works, but I really don't know.
The problem with Article 25, as I understand it, is that the only people who can invoke it are the people who work for Donald Trump.
And, you know, after even after all this,
There is a level of loyalty and refusal to go against him, even when he's doing things that are wildly unpopular, that are illegal, that are hurting Americans, that are hurting people that these other people in the cabinet say that they care about.
There are people in the cabinet where Donald Trump has insulted them and their families directly.
They still are loyal to him.
So, you know, I don't know what it's going to take for any of these people to step up.
And I think the sad truth is that we're stuck with this guy for the rest of his term.
And all we can do as Americans is try to and I'm with you.
