And it was all post the massive kind of explosion of,

the big French multinationals.

So it was a time I was going for jobs with other companies and my mom had said, oh, well, you gave everyone a go, but what about me?

And she had actually trialed, well, had had four young designers, like over the time I'd been away, one each year for four years.

And it hadn't worked out and I was like, well, if it hasn't worked out for them and then it doesn't work out for me, you know, it's just – it's life.

You know, it's not that I'm not right.

She's tried these.

And so I was like, okay, well, this has to be about the business and this has to be right for the business and we have to find a way that it isn't about –

her approval of me, that it is just, it is, it's creative, right?

So everything is so subjective and I needed to make it less subjective.

And what's less subjective than the client?

You know, if the customer wants it and buys it, then it has a place.

And, you know, it was, and my mom didn't buy the collection.

The buyer bought that collection.

She would say, you know, I would present a list, uh, like a gamut of designs and she'd say more this, less that.

And then I would present it to the buyer.

I would work with the design room manager, building all the patterns.

And I was a pattern maker as well.

Um,

So, I really had a lot of people that I, like on a day-to-day basis, I wasn't working with her and that was really important.
