So Commissioner Vicky Lopez is kind of a known quantity in Miami politics, well, really Florida politics, because she was previously convicted of honest services mail fraud and sentenced to twenty-seven months in federal prison.
Her sentence was ultimately commuted by then President Bill Clinton in November of two thousand after serving more than fifteen months.
This all stemmed out of a scandal when she was a Lee County, this is in the Fort Myers area on the West Coast, a Lee County commission.
And she was apparently had had a relationship with a lobbyist and was trying to, it was a corruption story.
