But I just think it's a little bit cack-handed.

And I actually wonder... Yeah, I definitely feel that.

And simultaneously, I don't know how you feel the author feels about the parents, but I definitely, and maybe this is me projecting onto it, I definitely got a vibe of not covering up for them.

But I do wonder if a lot of their ongoing campaign is effectively... The parenting style, put it that way, was very lax.

And maybe it's because I'm reading this as a British Asian, but I was like...

How are you like just moving in at the age of like 20 with a random 45 year old guy and your parents aren't asking you what the hell's going on?

I was like, wow, that is a very hands-off, liberal, lax kind of type of parenting.

And I think that Patrick Radden Keefe doesn't think that.

But I think a lot of what he's doing in the book is they are definitely the heroes of the book, right?

The parents, these loving parents who were just left in the lurch.

And I think it was really funny because my mum read it.

She read my copy after me and then she's given it to me.

I do think there's probably a different reaction from...

my community to just the parenting style like a lot of it is there but for the grace of god our kids have phones like who the hell knows what our kids are doing with their avatars in their online life so it's not judgmental or critical in that way it's like god you know this is really is like a warning to all of us but simultaneously because there's a point at which the mum thinks he might have been doing heroin

I mean, I was like, if you really suspect your teenage son of doing heroin, you sit him down, talk about it and then get him into rehab.
