I just kept feeling like Patrick Rankine wasn't saying it.

And then I was just like, well, that was 70 pages that I guess is interesting.

I found it actually, the more I'm remembering it, because I read this quite a while ago now, I'm just realizing and remembering how frustrated I was at the book.

Alternatively fascinated and frustrated is how I felt.

I feel he was being very selective.

I think he was looking at all these major characters' backstories

And trying to find patterns of deception.

He was trying to make a point about the moral corruption of London.

But also, I think maybe unintentionally trying to make... I think the point he ended up making was, hey, look at all these immigrants.

They're just deceptive and corrupt.

Because, you know, the guy who's dead is...
