I had another buddy saying, Bob Nutting's only doing this because there's a lockout coming up next year.

They just signed a player who could be at some point the best position player in Major League Baseball to a nine-year deal.

I don't care about any of the reasons.

It's not a day for me to break stuff down to the nth degree and be cynical.

It's a day where for once, for once as Pirates fans,

We should be happy.

That's what I'm saying, man.

I can't stand society sometimes nowadays, always looking for the negative in everything.

This is the most positive thing that has happened, really, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, with them actually doing something in a long time.

These last four months have been so different.

Like, why can't we just be happy right now?

I think it'd be really hard to argue that they're not doing everything possible.

How can you argue the opposite of that?

They spent $49.5 million this offseason.
