And this is the story I talk about in the book.
My mom had decorated my room with all red, like red curtains, red bedspread, red rug, red pillows.
And it didn't feel good to me.
You're like, this is... Yeah, I mean, I couldn't articulate that this color gave me anxiety, but I was just like, this is not for me.
This is not my journey.
So I saved up all my little birthday checks I had gotten from my aunt and uncles, and I went out and I bought...
blue bedspread and blue curtains and blue pillows because I understood that blue just, it made me feel better.
Like I liked, it made me feel more relaxed.
And again, I couldn't articulate these words when I was a little five-year-old farm boy, but I just, I understood the power of color and lighting, you know, at five years old.
Yeah.
I, again, I couldn't articulate why I just, I knew what I knew the feeling, you know, you just knew the vibes were off.
So at a young age, I started thinking about those things.
And then probably around 14 or 15, I walked into Target.
And you know how they do those amazing collaborations with designers?
This was their very first collaboration they ever did.
And it was with the architect named Michael Graves.
And I don't know if you've, it's like this tea kettle and this toaster and these spatulas, like very like modernist designs.
And I remember walking in and seeing like a spoon from the collection.
And before like spoons were just very utilitarian.
You know, you use it just to shovel food in your mouth.
