I mean, they want sanctions relief.

They want unfreezing of Iran's own assets, billions of dollars in accounts around the world that the U.S.

prevents them from getting access to.

They want to impose a toll, which is probably illegal, but perhaps some kind of taxation system on the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

They want to rebuild.

They want to stabilize their economy.

They want to keep the people happy.

They want to pay off their proxy forces that have proven somewhat useful in this recent conflict.

And they probably want to rebuild their military capacity as well, seeing that they were on the right track militarily with their missiles and their drones.

They want to rebuild deterrence and they need money to do that.

Well, I think it might even be a deal breaker from the Iranian side as well.

I'm sure your next guest will talk more about this as an expert on maritime law.

But Iranians seem to be realizing that having a toll on the Strait of Hormuz would be kind of a violation of norms and legality.

And so now what they're talking about is an environmental tax.

that would help with the upkeep of the Persian Gulf in coordination with the neighbouring Omanis that are also on the Strait of Hormuz.

And that is now what they're discussing.
