It's an honor to be on with you.

And I'm doing just fine.

I got to sleep in my bed last night and talk to my lawyer, Edgardo, who I was trying to escort out of the building.

He slept in a nice detention facility, God knows where, and he has no lawyer.

So I'm just fine.

But our democracy is not just fine.

Yeah.

I mean, of New York City's eight million residents, 40 percent are immigrants.

50 percent live in mixed status households, including a million kids.

So here we are, the city with that Statue of Liberty in the harbor saying this is the greatest immigrant city the world's ever known.

But it's now gone beyond that.

I mean, Pam Bondi and Donald Trump have declared war on our cities and on our democracy.

And every elected leader who cares about it has got to show up.

Look, it is frightening, you know, and Donald Trump is trying to distract.

I mean, he's trying to pass that bill to give big tax breaks to billionaires and strip away health care.

And so to distract, they are ratcheting up deportation.

They've pledged millions of deportations.

I want to be clear, everybody who I tried to escort yesterday, someone is doing exactly what they were supposed to.

They registered at the border.
