A game being in development for a long time, I can interview them earlier on, and then maybe years later, we do a follow-up and just kind of talk about how the game has sort of evolved in that time.
We did something like that recently with Roller Girl, a game that's being made in Toronto.
We interviewed the developer Indigo three years ago, and then for this big feature I was doing about a game set in Canada, because her game is set in small-town Ontario, I followed up with her and we did a separate piece and kind of talking about how the game had evolved over the past three years I thought was pretty interesting.
But yeah, definitely, I think it also helps a lot in these busier times that we're in, like right now is the Summer Game Fest time, basically, like that's next week.
So I think giving as much lead time as possible if you're part of those showcases, because there's literally like 20 different showcases during that week.
And there's so many games and all of them that like, it's just impossible to keep up with everything.
So when possible reaching out and I've had a few already, you know, giving it even a couple of weeks lead time, or at least putting on our radar, we're going to have an embargoed release for you for timed with this showcase.
That really helps a lot.
Even if you don't have all the information by the way, just putting that on my radar is really helpful.
Cause yeah, a lot of the time something cool will be announced.
And then I'm like, Oh, I'd actually cover that.
But then they literally gave like one day's notice.
And it's like, I just,
you know especially as a small team and obviously we're not unique to that games media in general obviously is facing a lot of cutbacks so i imagine a lot of other teams are facing the same challenges uh so having a lot more having as much runtime as possible really helps and bradley you've spoken to it a couple times already so i just want to kind of clarify and double tap on the pr side of things now i i know obviously in in in
yeah it's a bit of both i think one thing i'll say is pr people have gotten a lot better overall in terms of identifying you know uh that oh hey mobile syrup covers canadian games more so than pretty much anybody so uh we will they like to kind of make direct pitches that way like even without mentioning the exact game uh like you know one of the developers that was at uh
XP Summit last week, like I had their PR who's in the US reach out and say, oh, hey, these devs are going to be at XP Summit.
Do you want to talk to them while they're there?
And confidentially, they're going to have an announcement during the Summer Game Fest show timing.
And that was great because that was a couple of weeks ahead of Summer Game Fest.
So it gives me more than enough time to sort of, you know, put this together.
