And on most shoots, we will bring both and we'll be like, cool, which one do we prefer the look of?
And like...
I'd say 95% of the time we end up running with the iPhone.
They've just done such a good job.
I know it is crazy.
So there's a couple of reasons around it.
The first one is all the work that we do is these very elaborate CG scenes.
To do work in CG, the first job within the pipeline is having to 3D track your camera.
So we basically need to do a solve.
So
our software understands the 3D environment, the camera, sorry.
So the software understands where the camera is within 3D environment.
Now, of course, if we're shooting everything on phones, well, these phones, they're not really phones.
They're just, they're super computers that are incredibly small that have these like really advanced gyroscope sensors on them.
Also have these really advanced LIDAR sensors on them.
So we then thought, well, great.
Everything that we need to be able to capture that data in real time is actually built into the phone.
After a ton of research and trial and error, we found like an array of apps that we were able to use.
3D printed a case where we could essentially have two iPhones rigged together.
I hold it on one sort of mount, which basically means one of the cameras is... One of the iPhones is just filming.
