And their social organization, they're a decentralized group.

They don't have leaders.

They break into small groups and they cooperate together if there's a big battle or they want to trade or something like that.

So I started seeing these parallels.

Then I start reading books and books on the Apache and I'm just obsessed with this group.

And out of that came a very long essay exploring Bitcoin through this lens.

So I'm going to give a couple of history, a couple of little like fun things to wet the whistle.

And then we can go down to the more like clinical analysis here.

But the story starts with Hernando Cortez, who was a Spanish conquistador.

They're exploring the new world, the Americas.

And he showed up to modern day Mexico.

took his horses to Tenochtitlan, which is now Mexico City, where the Mayans had their empire.

And he shows up with horses and he demands all the gold.

And this is an enormous civilization, over a million people, very advanced, aqueducts, all this stuff.

And Cortes showed up right to the capital, went to the leader and essentially sacked the city with like a couple hundred men on horses and armor.

And boom, this empire thousands of years is gone.

How did he do that with a couple hundred people?

Well, he talked to the leader.

The leader was arrogant.
