I need to clarify what the motion is because it's not as it appears here.
I'd like to explain always some changes.
Let me explain to you here that we have a situation in which the staff working with the community and council members proposed changes to the area plans in the time between November and now.
And that was the result of robust ongoing engagement.
The glitch that came up was the planning committee looked at those changes and didn't agree with all of them.
And so, in fact,
They felt that some of them, I think, ran counter to our core UDO policy and 2.1.
So you have a sheet of paper in front of you here in that little folded packet.
I think I will ask Planning Director Holmes to just briefly talk us through what these
issues are, and they now comment on the situation that we're in as a result of them.
So again, the details are in front of you.
I don't think we need to go at them line by line.
And I would like to confirm with the city attorney that it is entirely within our authority to go ahead and approve the changes as agreed with the staff, noting the planning committee's
issues with some of them.
And with the goal, I think that we would then work with the planning committee to resolve any concerns that they have.
But there's nothing that prevents us from approving the staff recommended changes.
Is that right?
So, colleagues, based on the fact that the staff recommendations are the product of that continuing engagement that we held out for, that some of us did, but that we worked at very hard in order to reach a certain place, which is where we are now.
