I mean, the easiest way to commit fraud in science is to allow the errors that go in the direction of your hypothesis to stand and to purge the errors that go in the direction against your hypothesis.

And so the concern is that you've got a bunch of cheerleaders for the idea that the climate is warming and that necessitates all kinds of a an infusion of cash into studying

And in fact I would remind people it's it's a very different topic, but

At one point Aubrey de Gray, who was the researcher who was uh pushing the idea that um human aging was just a uh an engineering problem, that there were six causes and that if we just knocked them off the list one by one, that we would live very, very long periods of time, like thousands of years.

Uh it's a wrong argument.

But he at one point made a mistake.

And he wrote a paper chastising his colleagues for not being publicly optimistic about this idea.

His point was pessimism is bad for the discipline.

It's going to cause the funding to dry up.

So anyway, he was just a bit too honest there.

Um but that's in general his problem.
